Snowfall reports from around the Northland, and some records

Here are the latest snowfall reports from around the Northland, relayed by the National Weather Service:

  • 5 inches – northwest of Two Harbors
  • 5 inches – near Cloquet
  • 5 inches – Twig
  • 4 inches – Saginaw
  • 3.8 inches – Brainerd
  • 3 inches – Brimson
  • 2 inches – Culver

The Duluth International Airport received 3.4 inches of snow through midnight, setting a record for Oct. 26. The previous record was 1.7 inches of snow, which fell on Oct. 26, 1969.

The National Weather Service also reports that Duluth set a record for the wettest October day on record. 2.94 inches of precipitation fell on Tuesday – breaking the old October calendar day precipitation record of 2.81 inches set on Oct. 1, 1950.
